Ending Illness

For some amazing information, click here:  http://abcnews.go.com/Health/close-heart-assignment-saved-life/story?id=15379232 .  You'll see ABC journalist Bill Weir's life-saving assignment, an interview with David B. Agus, MD, author of The End of Illness.

The interview—and what Dr. Agus revealed to Bill about his (seemingly excellent) health—were amazing in their own rights. But more amazing was what I saw with my own eyes on a big-screen-TV-sized computer monitor that showed the various components of a blood sample. And, iPhone-like, with the spread of fingertips on the screen, it zoomed in to individual proteins! Some of those proteins, each of which tell our bodies what to do in one respect or another, are known; some are not. The ones that are can reveal amazing things.

Dr. Agus predicts that within a few years, we'll be able to prevent illnesses such as cancer and heart disease using the tests and information we already have, combined with loads and loads of data. Watch the clips—you'll be amazed too.

Grandparents—Praise Effectively

Before you praise your grandkid(s) for a job well done, read this article:

http://blogs.hbr.org/cs/2011/11/the_trouble_with_bright_kids.html

To sum it up, praising children for hard work produces higher self-confidence and self-esteem (and more future "try") than praising for smartness or cleverness. Interesting (and personally verifiable) stuff!

Thanks to my niece Katie for the link! For a series of good laughs, check out her blog at http://belligerenthousewife.com/ .

Welcome!

Inner Fulfillment comprises a wide realm of aspects, from family and social relationships to career, volunteer and service opportunities.

When I conceptualized this website, I'll admit my overriding vision was to talk about Inner Fulfillment for those of us who've reached the age of potential retirement, yet aren't ready to retire from life.

When I think Inner Fulfillment, I think~
  • Career Development
  • Education & Training
  • Emotional Health
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Hobbies & Pastimes
  • Job Hunting
  • Productivity
  • Volunteer Opportunities
But as I thought more about the site, I came up with a long list of additional topics (and subtopics, which are way too numerous to list):
  • Frugal Living
  • Health & Wellness
  • House & Home
  • Personal Care
  • Personal Finance
  • Social Life
  • Spiritual Growth
  • Technology
  • Travel
If you have more ideas for the list, let me know and I'll add them for future conversation.

In the meantime, welcome to my project. I think we're going to have tons of fun. Visit often, and invite your friends!
